Mr. Noah Griffin Altman, 87, of Hoboken died Saturday evening at the Hospice Satilla Hospice House after an extended illness. He was born in Brantley County to the late Riley Altman and Mary Jane Griffin Altman. Mr. Altman worked thirty seven years for Reuben Brothers Shoe Factory. He was a member of High Bluff Primitive Baptist Church. Mr. Altman loved to fish, hunt quail and deer, care for his cows and hogs and farm. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Frances D. Altman, a son, Terry Altman and his brothers and sisters, Irene Merritt, Harley Altman, Silas Altman, Robert Altman, Rosa Mae Griffin, Nora Bell Wilson, Magdeline Altman and infant twins.
He is survived by three daughters, Linda Crews of Hoboken, Marsha Lee and her husband Donald of Hoboken, Diane Nichols and her husband David of Hoboken, a son, Gary Altman and his wife Susan of Hoboken, a sister, Emmie Pittman of Hoboken, a daughter-in-law, Mary Altman of Hoboken, nine grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at High Bluff Primitive Baptist Church. Burial will follow in High Bluff Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Miles-Odum Funeral Home.
