Ok I'm a little late so you'll have to pardon me. I always saw images of when the two "kids" ran out on the field when Hammerin' Hank hit his 715th homer and wondered who they were. Why it was on my mind this time around and why I decided to look it up now as oppose to years ago I can't tell you. In any case, their images are forever grained in my mind forever. I wasn't alive then, but my daddy, who is an Atlanta native, was and probably remembers their faces well (he is only a year older than Mr. Gaston). Mr. Gaston was obviously a lot more than just that historic run and went on to be successful in his own right. I am sorry for your loss and realize that no words of condonlences can truly comfort a grieving heart, but he is at rest now and the Lord calls those who are His, not dead, but asleep. May you be reunited again upon Christ's return.

This will reach all the Gastons belatedly, I'm afraid. My sons, Tucker and Jake, grew up along side Chase & Parker, families close for many years, only to diverge when college choices were made. Still, those very wild and wacky years of shared birthday parties (all manner of motley bikes racing through the darkness on the Links Course' cart paths) and Rec baseball teams (droll coaching courtesy of Britt) are vivid to us. We remember Britt from those good times!

I want to thank you all for your sentiments Britt was quite the brother, friend and censurable role model. He lived a full life and brought the gift of amusement to everyone he met except some Florida fans,Democrats and some people that just didn’t get it. There were some things that he had imparted to me over the years and I thought I would share with you, his friends. The ones I can think of now. Always aim for the back of the rim (this I thought was the word of the master ,but probably came by way of Cliff Courtney who was the king of the outside shot. If you’re going to do something.. do it right, dammit What! You’ve never had a frosted mug root beer from Strickland’s... turn left!! Thank you all again, Van

Dear Chase and Parker, My parents and I were so very sorry to learn of the loss of your father. I wish there were enough words to send as comfort, but somehow there never are. I hope the many wonderful memories you have of him will bring you peace. Know that the Turnages in Mississippi are all thinking of you and praying for you. We loved seeing your grandmother and your mom a few weeks ago, and it brought us so much comfort to have them there for us in our time of loss and grief. Your family is so special to us! Much love to you both, Cousin Kate

We want to send our deepest sympathy to all the Gaston family. We were so sorry to hear of your loss. We had been told what a hard battle Britt had fought with cancer. We will continue to keep all the family in our thoughts and prayers. May God give you peace and comfort in this time of grief. We know you have many good memories to ease your sorrow.
