Geraldine Thomas James

Mrs. Geraldine Thomas James, 68, of Manor died Monday afternoon at her residence surrounded by her family and friends after an extended illness. She was born in Clinch County to the late Ervin Thomas and Nellie Faye Steedley Thomas. She had made Manor her home for most of her life. She worked for Standard Container and Brock Way Packaging for thirty six years before retiring in 2003. Mrs. James was a member of Camp Branch Church of God of Prophecy in Manor, where she served with the nursing home ministry and was a Sunday School teacher. She loved photography and painting. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by a brother, Marshall Thomas, three sisters, Lucille Godwin, Brenda Thomas, Inez White and an infant brother, Talmadge Thomas.
Mrs. James is survived by her husband of forty six years, Billy M. James of Manor, a daughter, Kristy James Oliver and her husband Kent of Manor, a son, Marty James of Manor, a brother, Raymond Thomas of Waycross, four sisters, Lavene Sweat and her husband David of Blackshear, Nita Sweat of Manor, Linda Wolfe and her husband Kim of Waycross, Debbie Thomas of Manor and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m., Thursday at the Camp Branch Church of God of Prophecy in Manor. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m., at the church.
