Angie Rowland

Angela D. “Angie” Rowland, 48, of Waycross died Monday afternoon (July 30, 2012) at Mayo Clinic Health Systems in Waycross after a short illness. She was born in Waycross and lived here all of her life. Ms. Rowland was a 1983 graduate of Ware County High School and worked at Wal-Mart, Shoney’s and the Sewing Factory before becoming disabled. She attended Emmanuel Baptist Church in Blackshear. Ms. Rowland enjoyed listening to 1970’s oldie goldies music and most of all taking care of her nephew, Ethan Lowman.

Ms. Rowland was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. L.R. Sweat; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert F. Rowland, Sr.; one aunt, Clara Faye Harrison; three uncles, Raymond Harrison, Jimmy Cox and Bobby Cox.

Survivors include her parents, Gilbert F. Rowland, Jr. and Alice L. Cox Rowland of Waycross; one sister, Judy Lowman and her husband Duane of Patterson; one nephew, Ethan Lowman of Patterson; four aunts, Brenda Sweat of Gainesville, FL, Cathy Smith of Keystone Heights, FL, Carolyn Rowland of Brunswick and Celeste Potts and her husband Larry of Athens, GA; two uncles, David Rowland and his wife Joyce of Waycross, Harry Parkerson and his wife Nancy of Newnan, GA; numerous cousins and other relatives.

A funeral service will be held Thursday morning at 11 am at the Miles-Odum Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Kettle Creek Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6 – 8 pm at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Emmanuel Baptist Church, 217 W. Carter Avenue, Blackshear, GA 31516. Sympathy may be expressed online at www.milesodumfuneralhome.com.
