Melba Jean Herrin, 49, of Waycross died Wednesday morning (April 11, 2012) at Coffee Regional Medical Center after a sudden illness. She was born in Waycross to the late Troy Andrew and Bernice Smith Herrin and lived here all of her life. Ms. Herrin was a 1980 graduate of Ware County High School and also graduated from Okefenokee Technical College. She worked at Matt’s Jackets as a Supervisor before she became disabled. Ms. Herrin was a member of Cornerstone Church of God where she was active on the Praise and Worship Team. She loved singing and playing the piano and when she was younger she was apart of “The Herrin Family” singing group.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by five brothers, Dallas Herrin, Herman Herrin, Russell Herrin, Troy L. Herrin and Ronald Herrin.
Survivors include three sisters, Tammy Gunter of Waycross, Glenda Griffin and her husband Robert of Douglas, Annette Murray and her husband Carl of Waycross; a special sister-in-law, Linda “Cookie” Herrin of Waycross; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A memorial service will be held 1 p.m., Friday at Cornerstone Church of God.
The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m., at the Miles-Odum Funeral Home.
